Day School

Chase’s Place is a full day, Dallas area private school. We accept students with developmental disabilities including MR, PDD/Autism, Acquired Brain Injuries, and Neurological Disorders. Chase’s Place maintains a 1:2 staff/student ratio. This increases the amount of individual assistance while supporting increased independence to the greatest extent possible.
Chase’s Place integrates therapeutic services into each regular school day. Therapists provide direct services to our students and consult weekly with teachers to incorporate the student’s specific goals into their daily routine. Our services include: Speech and Occupational Therapy.

Chase’s Place strives to balance the teaching of daily living skills with the teaching of functional academic skills and fine and gross motor skills. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed with the family, in conjunction with our staff, following an evaluation of present needs and long-term goals. The IEP is reviewed and revised annually to re-evaluate the goals and objectives.
The curriculum addresses the following areas

Functional Academic Skills – Survival signs, reading, basic math computations, time, money, and measurement.

Motor Skills – Both fine and gross motor development are addressed.

Communication – Total communication including receptive and expressive use of verbal and non-verbal communication.  Use of voice, sign, gestures, facial expressions, and body language are encouraged.  Augmented communication is addressed as needed.

Social Skills – Social stories and experiential instruction in personal space, eye contact, greetings, and manners.

Self Care – Grooming, toileting, feeding, health and hygiene.
Home/Living Skills – Cooking, general housekeeping, and maintenance are taught within the context of taking care of ourselves and our school.

Leisure Skills – Exploration of hobbies and leisure skills including computer, gardening, sports, etc…

Behavior – Basic good citizenship and decorum is the foundation of our program.  Individual behavioral plans are developed on an as needed basis.
